Conducting Research with the Department of War (Hosted by SERC)

Research with theDoWis not your typical academic grant experience. Unlike traditional funding sources like NSF or NIH,DoW-sponsored researchoperatesunder a mission-driven model, emphasizing national security needs, rapid transition, and sustained relationships with program managers. How do you build these relationships, and how do you obtain funding for academic research fromDoWsponsors? This interactive workshop is designed for academic faculty who are curious about or new to working with theDoW. Participants will gain insight into theDoW’sunique research landscape, explore opportunities for funding, understand how to engage with technical points of contact, and learn how to align research ideas with defense priorities. Whatever your academic discipline, this session will demystify the process and help you take your first strategic steps toward successful funded collaboration with theDoW.

Engineering Society of Systems Scholars (ESSyS) Faculty Workshop

This workshop is designed to bring together junior and senior faculty in tenure/tenure-track positions with an interest in systems engineering research and education, who may generally besome what “isolated” in traditional engineering departments. The aim is to facilitate mentoring opportunities, research and educational collaborations, and support through a network of colleagues.
